OVERVIEW
Market Sectors Brought to Life

Reid Middleton, being a civil and structural engineering company located in Everett that works with city, state, and federal governments, needed to update their website to match other engineering company website capabilities.
With WordPress decided on as the new platform, I collaborated with the senior designer to create graphic content with me spearheading the market sector animated icons.
PROCESS
Conceptualizing Our Markets
The first step was to explore various concepts of Reid Middleton’s market sectors. While many market sectors were simple, others were more abstract and had to be creatively worked. Various icon styles from simplistic to true-to-life were explored and ultimately decided upon in discussion with the senior designer.
Keyframing The Story
Once the final icons were finalized, I created storyboards of each icon in Illustrator, depicting what motion treatment each element would receive at what stage. This process was developed to avoid unnecessary time wasted on applying edits and changes to otherwise completed animations.
After importing the icon elements into Adobe Animate, clip masks and motion treatment were applied to each icon and exported as animated SVG files to be placed on the main site.
END RESULT
A Short Animated Story
While intimidating at first, I learned a lot through this process. I also applied a lot of what I learned from Flash as well as illustration.
